Motherhood – Finding YOUR balance

Photo: Adam Davis

BELOW IS A BLOG POST THAT I WROTE 9 YEARS AGO!

MY OLDEST SON IS 15 NOW. I FOUND IT IN MY DRAFTS AND DECIDED TO SHARE IT NOW BECAUSE I THINK IT WAS MEANT TO BLESS SOMEONE TODAY.

After having my first child six  years ago, it rocked my world. Everything became a blur.

I vaguely remember a whirlwhind of pampers, doctor’s visits, sleepless nights, canned food, bottles, etc.

I actually stopped working a full-time job because I truly felt I was “called” to be a stay-at-home mom.

Ha! That was fun! 🙂

When that phase in my life didn’t work out, I returned to work when my son was 10-months old. I was convicted and confused about what I was SUPPOSED to do.

The Lord ministered to me so beautifully.  He showed me that I didn’t have to be like anyone else.

He called me to be me.

He wanted me to follow His leading on how to live a balanced life for my family and not focus on the “super moms” I saw around me.

Remember this: We can always look to others for inspiration but never for intimidation.

What’s your life balance? I hope you know it…

MIND RENEWAL: Day 8- Honoring My Man!

Today I was thinking about how much I love and cherish my husband. He’s helped me grow so much throughout the years and my love and respect for him grows daily.

Since I never thought I’d be a wife or mother, I had to renew my mind BIG time in this area.  I tried to change my husband for seven years before I got the revelation that I WAS THE PROBLEM. NOT HIM!!!!

Today I will post my most popular blog ever instead of writing something new (because I want to spend the evening hanging out with him instead of studying and writing.) 🙂

Until next time…

Enjoy: The Microwave

I love you and I’m praying for you!

Step into the Fridge

I know. I know. I know.  It’s been  awhile since you last heard from me.

I took a little hiatus without knowing I was actually taking one. 🙂

Boy I’ve missed you.

I have so much to share and so much inside of me that I just might burst all over my kitchen floor while typing…

Anyway… this is a picture of my precious (and busy) 9 month old daughter. She’s funny and beautiful and smart and giggly and all those silly things that make mamas proud.

A few days ago, I was helping my youngest son with his homework. I turned around and realized my baby girl had crawled into the refrigerator because the door wasn’t quite shut.

What’s pretty funny is that she just started crawling a few weeks ago and now she’s already standing up and climbing into cabinets, closets and anything else she can get into.

I wanted you to see this picture because it really inspired me.

She inspires me.

She’s fearless.

At only 9 months old, she doesn’t understand fear or discouragement or defeat.

She simply steps right up and goes after it.

She saw a bag of lettuce and she decided to go after it with all her might!!

Isn’t that how we’re supposed to live?

Aren’t we supposed to be fearless as Christians?

Where’s our faith?

Where’s our drive to do more and be more and want more?

It’s inside of us.

Don’t let your passion or dream die my friends! Never.

Let it live. Let it live.

Now… go ahead and go after your own bag of lettuce! Shucks!! I’m so fired up, I may eat some lettuce right NOW!

I love you and I’m praying for you and………….. I’m so glad to be back!

Spread the word! The doors to My Freedom Suite are open again! GLORY!!!!

Making Good Decisions

Recently my husband and I talked about the bad decisions we made early on in life.

From leaving our jobs for an unprofitable business to purchasing a home we couldn’t afford to leasing a $30,000 car. (Yes, we actually leased a car and yes we had to turn it in after four years.)

He simply shook his head in disbelief as we recounted how far we’ve come over the years. We laughed at my tendency to be rather “deep” about things and his tendency to “go with the flow”. We’ve learned the hard way that making good decisions is very biblical and still very practical.

Jesus never called us to live a life contrary to His word. He called us to abide in His word, so His words would abide in us (John 15:7). So what does this mean when it comes to paying your bills? It means, if you have so much of God’s word in you, then God will ALWAYS lead you to make the right decisions… and his leading is never emotional. I repeat. God never leads us down an emotional road.

We do.

God is a God of practicality.

If 1 plus 1 doesn’t equal 2, then you should check the calculator you’re using. God will always add his super to our natural, but we’ve got to do our part. So if you’re in the middle of a making a major decision right now, then stop and think about the long-term impact and take your time to ensure you’re making the right decision.

Trust me. You’ll be so glad you did.

I love you and I’m praying for you.
