The Art of Supporting Your Man…

I love talking about marriage. Perhaps it’s because I was such a bad wife for the first seven years of our marriage. I’m grateful God gave me such a patient and loving man. Nowadays, I’m not perfect, but I don’t consider myself a bad wife anymore. Here’s why? I truly respect and support my man. EVEN WHEN I DON’T FEEL LIKE IT. In fact, I show him extra support ESPECIALLY WHEN I DON’T FEEL LIKE IT.

My husband is pretty simple. He’s laid back, caring and low maintenance. Recently, I had a list of household chores I wanted him to do. However, when he came home he wanted to talk about his experience at the gym. I didn’t want to hear about it because I wanted to go over MY list. However… (here’s the transition folks)…

A few years ago, I would’ve discounted his excitement for the gym and proceeded to run down his list of chores. Instead, I sat and listened and cheered him on about his accomplishments. Of course, I was thinking about the loose doorknob, the broken toilet paper holder, and cleaning the garbage cans, but it wasn’t important anymore.

WHY?

Because my husband’s confidence and enthusiasm for life far outweigh my list of chores. I smiled. I giggled. I applauded him as he did push ups on the kitchen floor. I hugged him and thanked him for being so strong. Did I eventually get my list of chores done? No. But someday, they’ll get done and I’ll cheer him on for that too!

Celebrating Pink Laundry

Yes. This is a picture of a laundry basket. I know it’s a little strange but bear with me for a moment.

Recently, I celebrated my 37th birthday. I remember thinking 37 was old… real old. 🙂

Like many of you, I had certain goals and dreams that I thought I would’ve accomplished by a certain age and for me, that didn’t include doing laundry every weekend.

However, today while staring at a basket of pink laundry, I’m actually celebrating. Because the laundry belongs to my beautiful baby girl. She’s only three months-old now, but her mere existence has fired me up.  When I look at her (or her laundry) I want more out of life for her, my boys, my husband… all of us.

I never thought God would bless me with a little girl, but He did and her little pink basket of laundry inspires me to become a much better human being…

Keep believing my friends!

Watch the Face!

Yesterday my son asked me why did I look so mean when I come to pick him up from school. I was a bit thrown off by his question, so I pretended I didn’t know what he meant.
Actually, I tend to hold my breath before walking through the doors because I’m a little nervous about getting his behaviour report. I didn’t know he could see me through the glass and read my expression of impending dread on my face.
Obviously I felt guilty about it later  and decided to make an adjustment. From now on, I “watch my face” to ensure I’m wearing a positive expression when he sees me. Because it matters to him, that means it matters to me.

The journey continues my friends!

Let’s pray for each other…

The “I” Marriage Videos (Part 2)

I hope you enjoyed the “I” Marriage video from Pastor Andy Stanley. Honestly, I was quite convicted while watching the videos because I saw so much of myself in the explanation of the “I’ person in the marriage. Although, I have a great marriage, I want to make it much better. This video helped me a lot. Enjoy part 2.

I’m praying for you!
