Are you in the silent years?

The Clock by Ivan Prole

The Silent Years.

What an interesting phrase. I’ve heard it before and yet I didn’t quite understand it until recently. In Luke Chapter 2, the Bible tells of Jesus’ birth and maturity. It’s interesting to note that although he was the Son of God, we didn’t hear much about his life from birth to age 12 and from age 12 to age 30. According to Luke 2:52, during that time he increased in wisdom and stature and favor with God and man.

Imagine that.

The Son of God’s life was virtually silent for 30 years. What can we learn from that example?

Patience. God’s timing is God’s timing.

It’s not up to us to decide when “our moment” has arrived. Our job is to “grow in wisdom and stature” during those silent years. If we waste the silent years by lamenting about what we don’t have and who doesn’t notice us, then we’ll never experience the second part of the scripture, which is … favor with God and man.

After thinking about it, I have one word to say… sssshhhhhhhh.
