Shake it Off!

Several years ago, my husband and I attended a rather interesting church service in New York. We giggled about the sermon because the preacher read a few scriptures about the Apostle Paul being bitten by the snake and how he had to “SHAKE IT OFF”.

Well, perhaps we were acting a little snooty at the time because after all, we were “non-denominational faith people” who didn’t care for this “type” of preaching.

However, throughout the years, that sermon is one of the most memorable, we’ve ever heard.

WHY?

You guessed it.

When things got tough, we looked at each other and said, “come on honey, just shake it off!”
🙂

We had to “shake off” a lot throughout the years. I won’t say it works all the time, but at least it provides a little comic relief to help us get through tough times.

So the next time, an issue or challenge comes your way… remember who you are in Christ.

You were meant for more… much more.

Never get discouraged with your problems… come on and just shake it… I’ll let you finish this one!

I love you and I’m praying for you!

Loving My Nose, My Head, My Thighs…

I know the blog title is a little strange for some of you. But keep reading. It’ll make sense in a moment.

Recently, I celebrated my 37th birthday. So naturally I’ve been staring in the mirror a lot. I’ve always had issues with the size of my nose and my head and after three kids, my thighs and every other part close by. 🙂

Each time I walk past the mirror, I think about something I want to change. “If only my nose were a little smaller.”  Or “I wish I were a little taller.” One day, the Lord reminded me that when He created me, He had perfection on His mind.

Therefore, my physical appearance was not only pre-determined by Him but that He loves me…

He really, really loves me.

Glory.

Since that day, I don’t bemoan any part of my body anymore. I thank God for creating me and loving me, just the way I am.

I hope you do too.

I love you and I’m praying for you.

My Journey to Freedom

Recently I shared a small part of my “testimony” with close friends. I told the story in my usual joking tone, however, my story really isn’t funny at all. You see, I spent almost 30 years living in bondage that only God and my husband know about.

Sometimes my eyes well up with tears when I think about my journey to freedom in Christ.

I have to “walk out” my freedom everyday.

I don’t get a day off.

I wasn’t instantly delivered from my sin-filled habits. Therefore, its critical that I get before God in prayer EVERY DAY in order to MAINTAIN my freedom in Him.

It’s not easy, nor is it fun… but it sure is sweet to be FREE!!! THANK YAAAA! 🙂

I love you and praying for you.

I am an EXCELLENT…

Have I ever told you “I AM AN EXCELLENT COOK”?

Did I mention  I AM AN EXCELLENT house cleaner?

Chances are I probably didn’t mention it because God is perfecting those areas of my life concerning homemaking. 🙂

However, I decided to change my thinking by changing my negative confession. So far, its been working because I’m actually having fun doing those homemaking duties that used to dog me. I encourage you to stop right now and take a mental inventory of what you do well and what you want to become excellent at and change your confession. TODAY! NOT TOMORROW!

I simply use the amplified version of Philippians 4:13 that says “I’m ready for anything and equal to anything through Christ who INFUSES me with inner strength.” This really helps anchor me! I hope it’ll help you too!

God bless you and I’m praying for you!

Are you in the will of God?

For a few years, I felt a little lost about God’s will for my life. I struggled with the obligation to “pay my bills” versus my true passion and purpose. So my days felt long and frustrating because I started following a course that God didn’t design for me. Eventually God’s precious Holy Spirit gently guided me back on course. My question for you is have you discovered God’s will for your life? Are you living in your purpose?

You see, life is too short to work to pay the light bills and mortgage. When God created you, he didn’t create you with a pay stub on his mind. He created you because he had a special assignment in mind with your name on it. When you wake up tomorrow morning, ask yourself the question: Am I moving closer to my divine assignment. If not, why?

I love you and I’m praying for you.
