Digging up James

Have you ever read the Book of James in the Bible? More specifically, have you  read James, Chapter 1? Lately, I’ve been quite enamored by this passage because it addresses so much in the Christian life. It deals with temptation, sin, stability, wisdom, love, the mouth and so much more.  Instead of reading a passage or a few passages a day and then forgetting what I read, I decided to do something different.

I decided to stick to one passage until I really “got” something out of it. So each day, I’ve been reading and thinking a lot about James, Chapter 1. It’s interesting because I want to read something else, but I feel like I’m not quite ready to move on. I can get so much more insight by reading and meditating, which is saying it over and over, on this one passage. I don’t have great revelation or commentary on this yet. I just wanted to share it with you. Maybe you’ve had a similar experience. Let me know!

I have had a simualar experience before. In July 2008, I was in my 4:am prayer, God told me I would be leaving my job. I started rebuting satan; and again He told me yes you will be leaving. Then I knew it was God speaking to me, because I know His voice. I immediately began to panic and wondered how it was going to happen. Would I get fired, quit, surprisenly get another job. I’m asking myself all these questions. How would I survive; with all these question going through my mine. He (God) said read the book of Hebrews chapter 13: 1-6.

I immediately got up off my knees and run to get my bible; so I would not forget the scripture He had given me. When I turned to the scripture and read it, I began to sob like a baby. Not because of what would happen to me. But because of his love and promise; He said ” I will not, I will not, I will not, I will not leave you without support. He instructed me to read this passage EVERYDAY and I did read it everyday until I got layed off my job Oct. 2008. The company did not get notice of the lay off until two days before we were layed off.

The day I were layed off, my heart was prepared; did not shed a tear and never have to this day. I rejoiced at my leaving and surprising I left with a helfty servance package.

When God places a book or passage on your heart; it’s ground He is preparing to cultivate.
